INCLUSIVE BUSINESS

According to FAO, with increasing globalization, agriculture as an independent sector will cease to exist, becoming instead, just one part of an integrated value chain.  This poses a huge challenge for smallholder farmers and agricultural producers in many developing countries as they are easily being excluded from important parts of the value chain. They are excluded mainly because they may not have the mechanisms to allow them to be included in the new globalized marketplace.

To help mitigate this problem, B-BOVID as a social enterprise which is actively involved in agro processing, is interested in operating an out grower scheme for oil palm and vegetables.  B-BOVID under this scheme ensures:

  • there is a ready market for farmers in its catchment area

  • will, at the end of every year, share profit with the farmers/community forming part of the scheme.

Also B-BOVID through its field partner NGO, TRACTOR, will be involved in training farmers and also rendering technical advisory services to empower them to compete in the emerging agro-business value chain.
